Enable Save As Draft for Your Form

You can enable a form user to save their form entry as a draft. With this option, a form user can edit their entry at a later time before submitting as a final entry. Once enabled, a user can save as draft and will be given a unique URL they can use to continue editing the form entry.

How to Set Up Save As Draft Mode

The form entry drafts are saved in your Airtable base with a label you choose. You’ll need to create a new field in your base, such as a Single-Select field and add 2 options - 1 for Draft mode and 1 for Submitted once the user finalizes and clicks the Submit button.

  • Open the Designer
  • Go to Page > Save As Draft
  • Toggle Enable Ability to Save Form As Draft
  • Complete the settings below

Select Field to Update on Draft Save - This is a field you’ll use to label form entries as Draft or Submitted

Create a new field in your base, such as a Single-Select field and add 2 options - 1 for Draft mode and 1 for Submitted once the user finalizes and clicks the Submit button.

Set Value for When Saving as Draft - This is the value that will be added to your Airtable record when a form entry is saved as a draft

Set Value for When Saving as Completed - This is the value that will be added to your Airtable record when a form entry is Submitted

Save as Draft Button Label - Add a label for the Save as Draft button. Default label is Save As Draft.

Once a user clicks Save as Draft, they will be presented with a page that contains their form entry URL to edit at a later time. They can copy the URL or click Continue Editing to continue editing their entry.
